The border is a wide, bold red silk Lal Paar stripe filled with a breathtaking dense Sambalpuri / Odisha-style cross-stitch woven print composition in ivory on red — built from multiple horizontal bands: fine Greek key / swastika meander bands, rows of small geometric square fills, a grand central band of large diamond medallions with floral rosette fills, rows of scrolling vine / creeper motifs, and bands of bird & animal motifs — peacocks, deer, and hamsa birds — all in ivory on deep red.
