Painterly, devotional, and utterly contemporary in its artistic vision — this ivory / cream Murshidabad / Garad silk saree brings the Durga Parivar to life in the luminous, fluid language of watercolour. The body is a pristine, lustrous ivory in the celebrated Murshidabad / Garad silk weave — scattered with small, precise red geometric square / swastika-style woven butis in deep red on ivory, placed with generous spacing across the body. Each buti is a small, auspicious geometric form — the ancient swastika / mangal symbol of divine blessing — woven into the ivory silk with quiet, sacred precision.
The border is the iconic Lal Paar composition of Bengal — a wide, bold red silk stripe with two extraordinary details: a fine red diamond / lattice net woven band running along the inner edge — a delicate trellis of small diamond shapes woven in red on red, creating a subtle, precious texture within the border — and a dramatic ivory ikat spike / arrow edge along the outer edge, with bold upward-pointing ivory spikes bleeding from the ivory body into the red border in the characteristic resist-dyed bleed of the ikat tradition.
The pallu is a breathtaking large-scale watercolour splash / ink wash digital print of the complete Durga Parivar on the ivory silk ground. The composition depicts Goddess Durga in full multi-armed form at the centre with her lion vahana, flanked by her divine children — all rendered in bold washes of deep red, teal / peacock blue, blush pink, and powder blue bleeding and pooling across the ivory ground in the fluid, spontaneous language of watercolour, with fine Kalighat-style black line work defining the figures within the washes. Scattered across the pallu are dramatic ink splash / splatter marks in teal and pink — the spontaneous, gestural marks of the watercolour artist’s brush, giving the pallu an extraordinary sense of creative energy and artistic freedom. The ikat spike border frames the pallu on all sides.
Comes with a deep red silk short-sleeve round-neck blouse scattered with self-tone dark geometric square butis, featuring a wide round neckline, short sleeves with the same ivory ikat-spike border band on the sleeve hem, and a structured silhouette.
